- Terrain, canopy and spectral layers have different roles.
- Test representative vegetation and slopes.
- Scope forestry interpretation separately from capture.
Name the layer you are buying
A bare-earth terrain model describes ground. A canopy surface describes the visible upper structure. Multispectral observations describe spectral variation. These layers can contribute to a forestry project, but they are not interchangeable.
An inventory or ecological conclusion usually needs an interpretation method and field observations as well. Specify the requested layer and the separate analysis rather than expecting a single drone export to answer every forest-management question.

Test the hard part of the site
For terrain, inspect representative vegetation and the ground observations that remain after classification. For photographic reconstruction, inspect occluded surfaces and areas of weak image geometry. For a vegetation study, plan how map locations will be linked to field observations.
Do not evaluate only an open clearing. Include the canopy, slope and edge conditions that will determine whether the final layer is useful.
Select by the layer
| Layer | Capture direction | Review task |
|---|---|---|
| Ground terrain | LiDAR trial and ground classification | Check ground coverage and interpolated gaps. |
| Visible site or canopy appearance | Photographic mapping | Inspect coverage and reconstruction. |
| Spectral vegetation observation | Multispectral capture | Link observations to field and specialist interpretation. |
Keep sensing and management analysis connected
L3 is a current LiDAR option for a terrain workflow. Mavic 3 Multispectral is the multispectral aircraft in our current catalog. Their outputs answer different parts of the project.
Deliver the reference system, method notes and field links with the spatial layer. Ask the forestry analyst to identify which decisions the layer can support and where further observations are needed. That keeps a useful capture from becoming an unsupported inventory claim.
