There are two decisions, not one
First choose the sensing role: Matrice 4D for visual and mapping work, or Matrice 4TD when the task needs thermal alongside visual observations. Then choose how the crew will operate it.
Each aircraft's product page offers both branches. The aircraft-only branch is intended for a Dock setup. The RC package includes the controller for standalone use without a Dock. Selecting a branch changes what is in the order, not the aircraft.

Standalone operation still needs flight power
The confirmed RC package includes DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise Enhanced, a charging hub and carrying case. It does not include a flight battery. Add the Matrice 4D Series battery separately and review the required power adapter for your charging arrangement.
The selected edition’s In the Box is the package reference. Matrice 4 Series and Matrice 4D Series power accessories are separate ecosystems; choose the family shown for the actual aircraft.
A Dock purchase is a site decision
A Dock 3 deployment adds more than automated landing. Plan power, network, access for service and the person who owns mission readiness. A remote site should also have a process for interrupted uploads and an unavailable aircraft.
Use the RC branch for a crew taking the system between jobs. Review a Dock branch when recurring work is tied to a maintained site. Both hardware paths are ordered through a quote today; installation and operating support can be scoped alongside the selection.

Do I need a Dock to fly the RC package?
No. The RC standalone package is the controller-operated branch.
Does the RC package contain a flight battery?
No. Add the compatible Matrice 4D Series flight battery separately.
