The published capture
DJI’s public post describes F7 Digital mapping Limburg Cathedral in Germany with Matrice 4E and DJI Terra. It highlights Smart 3D and capture from five directions for the architectural model.
The post illustrates architectural capture with those tools. A separate assignment still needs a defined use, reference arrangement and review criteria rather than relying on the appearance of a published model.
A roof survey is not a complete building model
A heritage model often needs facades, roof details and surfaces hidden from a single downward view. Plan the views around the actual geometry. Identify surfaces that will remain inaccessible or poorly observed before promising a complete reconstruction.
After processing, inspect those difficult surfaces rather than relying on the overall preview. Gaps, distorted edges and texture artifacts can be easier to find at close view than in a fly-through.
Define how the model will be used
A public presentation, a conservation record and a measurement task require different review criteria. Agree the use and the receiving format before capture. Keep reference information and independent checks where the use requires them.
A visually engaging model is valuable for communication, but it should not be silently substituted for a measurement deliverable. Name the intended use in the project record.
A practical architectural trial
For a current Matrice 4E evaluation, choose a representative building section with roof and facade geometry. Process the photographs and inspect occlusion, edges and export behavior.
Use the published example for the importance of view coverage. Then confirm local access, the proposed capture arrangement and the project’s output requirements. The procedure belongs to the actual site rather than to a borrowed video.
